Keralup formerly Amarillo Masterplan, Karnup

Summary: This report provides the Environmental Protection Authority's (EPA's) advice to the Minister for the Environment under section 16(e) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 on the project by the Department of Housing and Works (DHW) to develop a new town site at Amarillo, a farming property in Karnup. Amarillo has subsequently been renamed Keralup. The project covers 4000 hectares in the single ownership of the DHW and lies 17 kilometres (km) south east of Rockingham and 10km north east of Mandurah. If developed, the area would become a fully integrated urban community housing up to 90 000 people.

Keysbrook Mineral Sands Mine

The proposal involves the excavation and processing of a low-grade heavy mineral sands deposit to produce 920,000 tonnes of heavy mineral concentrate over 8 years. Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Noise Regulation 17 Variation

Summary: KCGM has applied to the Minister for the Environment for an Approval pursuant to noise regulation 17 to enable it to vary its noise levels from the prescribed standard in the noise regulations, which has been triggered by the Environmental Impact Assessment of the proposed Fimiston Gold Mine Operations Extension (Stage 3) and Mine Closure Planning. Summary: In 2006, Worsley Alumina Pty Ltd's approved bauxite mining envelope in the eastern jarrah forest (Boddington region) was extended to the north and south of the original mining area (Statement No. 719). Mt Gibson Iron Ore Mine and Infrastructure Project

Summary: Mount Gibson Mining Limited proposes to mine and process iron ore (hematite and magnetite) from Extension Hill and Extension Hill North. The proposal also includes the construction of a pipeline to transport the magnetite slurry to Geraldton Port, and infrastructure at the port to strip the ore from the slurry for export. The operation will yield approximately 13 million tonnes of hematite over 8 years and 230 million tonnes of magnetite over 20 years. Extension Hill and Extension Hill North are part of a ridge of Banded Ironstone Formations (BIFs) within the Mt Gibson ranges in the Mid West region of Western Australia.
